TEMPORA
Touch Games About Roman Life for the Back to Pompeii Exhibition
“Back to Pompeii” opened on December 19, 2025, at Tour & Taxis in Brussels. The exhibition is by Tempora, a Belgian agency that designs and produces exhibitions. Its team, led by IT and multimedia manager André Ferreira, used PandaSuite to build eight interactives, four of them games.
Before, the team designed the experience, the architecture, and the graphic interfaces itself. Programming any game with drag-and-drop, conditions, or a database was outsourced, often in Unity. In-house, the team could only make simple point-and-click pieces on BrightSign players.
The money game is a case in point. Visitors pick a character, an artisan, a teacher, a senator, or a soldier, then drag goods into a basket. Each character has a budget the player can’t see: the purse empties with every purchase, and the ending depends on the character. As André Ferreira puts it, “This money game really helps visitors understand how different daily life was back then.”
In the other games, visitors match labels to the grains the Romans knew or hunt for ingredients in a cooking game. A memory game covers Roman pastimes. The last two reuse logic the team had already built in PandaSuite: the first interactives took a few days, the next ones far less. The team tested each one in-house, then with outside players, children among them.
